Mk1.5 project update. Turbo adaptor arrived, half cage installed and factory carpet cleaned and dye applied. Long ways to go, but feeling good!

Looking good! That's a LOT of work.

ZeroDrift1

The whole project has been a labor of love. The cage is being installed by a professional shop though. The interior disassembly, much of the other design and fab work had been my own with some help from friends and family.

Happy to see this back here! I’m getting excited to see it together!!!

ZeroDrift1

Thanks! Your project is coming along as well! What's next for your '93?

I literally just got the parts I need for the next video 😂. I was doing lower control arm ball joints and RCA’s to go with the coils but then I noticed the bushings were pretty well shot so I stopped that and ordered a full polyurethane bushing kit as well as some tie rod ends and rear sway bar end links! I figured I better do it all at once so now that I got that stuff we are basically going to try to finish a full suspension overhaul in the next few weeks 👍

ZeroDrift1

Haha, yeah - the 'while I'm there' philosophy is good, but you can end up going down the rabbit hole so to say. That said, a suspension refresh will do wonders! A few days before you start the work, spray all the hardware with penetrant spray a few times and pick up a few rental tools like a ball joint separator (not the pickle forks) and a bushing install kit. The right tools will make the job much easier. Looking forward to pictures and video of the progress.

Totally sound advice lol. I was thinking of bringing some of the components to my families shop so I could use the press 🦾 to get them out

Keep it up! I’d love to see how it looks when it’s all done😁👍

HOT! HOT! HOT!

BargainPaper

Looking really good! Your attention to detail is very obvious. What seats are those?

ZeroDrift1

These are some replica Bride Gias seats. I don't recommend them unless you intend to change the foam. I've changed the foam out and they are tolerable now, but were back beakers before.

JerryLoLler

very nice!

bobby_ricky

What manifold is that? Celica sec? Noticing what looks like the air injection ports. And what turbo?

ZeroDrift1

It is a manifold from a WRC car. You are correct, those are air injection ports for a fresh air antilag system. The turbo is a Borg Warner EFR 7064.

Sammakkoh

It looks like your plan is to have a race car. Why carpet?

ZeroDrift1

It's more of a restomod or something akin to a Porsche GT3 RS. Essentially, something I'm doing for my wife and I to enjoy. We will be autocrossing the car quite a bit with an occasional track day, but will remain as my long term project car I can tinker with.

Sammakkoh

That makes perfect sense!

FamiliarDriver8451

link for cage?

ZeroDrift1

Cage is custom. I can refer you to the shop that made it as they may be willing to bend up another as a weld in kit.
