Went to The Offspring last night, first gig there for over two years.
Was moving around trying to get a decent view and my foot touched another person's. Then I felt a foot trying to take my leg out from under me. Turned out to see an old guy just looking at me and shrugging like he hadn't done anything weird.
A guy leaving the front of the audience essentially felt up my chest as he left the crowd and a fight broke out randomly between the people in front of us. Tried to watch the show between these people getting up in each other's faces.
As we were walking to the car, saw a guy stumbling dazed to his feet before he and his pals started shouting at another group of people before trading blows and falling all over the street in front of moving cars. First guy I saw ended up shouting abuse as he struggled to stay on his feet.
Then walked past a man lying on the ground on the verge of tears cradling a street sign.
Sounds like a shite time. That’s such a shame, I’ve seen the offspring a few times when I was younger and the crowd was always good. I went by it though as it was coming out last night and it seemed like a lot of older punks. I’m sorry you were grabbed at😔
I was at the bleed from within gig last night which was great but sauchiehall street was full of bangers after it. Must be folk going nuts after being kept in so long.
Things have been open for long enough now that we shouldn't be using the 'kept inside too long' card. At this point it's just folk being cunts.
Aye that’s a fair point. I just couldn’t remember there being such a high concentration of wallopers but I am older now and haven’t been out on sauchiehall street for 10 years or so
Yeah, the gig itself was decent enough, as good as you could expect from The Hydro anyway, it sucked how it was more the audience that caused problems. Didn't seem to matter the age, the guy who tried to deck me was old, the groper and the fighters were younger. I tried not to let it spoil my night, but it's still sticking with me. Sent off an email to customer services, see what they say. Sucked for it to happen at all, let alone seeing a band I've wanted to see for 24 years.
Woke up all sniffly and a bit hungover after 4 300ml bottles of beer in the house last night. Getting older is fucking shite. I'm only 26 as well.
Oh sweet Summer child!
Yeah I honestly think 26 was my last year of getting away with shit like drinking and staying up all night after dancing in a club for hours. 27th birthday hit me like a tonne of bricks, and now I'm 29 and actually enjoy going to the pub and not drinking. Waking up fresh on a Sunday morning is annoyingly enjoyable
Omicron. Fuck sake. It sounds like a 10 foot robot with lasers shooting out its eyes. Could they not have called it something less mental?
I just keep thinking of Futurama "I am Lrrr, ruler of the Planet Omicron Persei 8"
Aye mate, that's the one. I for one welcome our viral overlord. (I don't really - it can fuck off)
This one should be called the Xi variant, as they are just working their way through the Greek alphabet. They decided to just skip over Xi and onto Omicron to avoid annoying the Chinese.
Or having a bunch of racists lock onto it
Seriously that must be like honey to all them conspiracy bams.
Aye, clearly the downvotes don't remember when it was called "the Chinese virus" and hate crimes against students from there spiked massively
Or maybe they do and are miffed that we don't all play along with their childish games.
Nice surprise to be woken up to a light dusting of snow this morning. Wasn't expecting that!
Just enough to be festive
Woke up to snow warnings and a headache so decided against paddleboarding.
Whole area around skypark needs updating. So clumsy to walk down to the hotels on foot from there with all the junctions. From the road going down from Lidl the footbridge isn't even signposted
Wee bams and piss puddles. Avoid.
Exactly. Not even like there's not space above ground, they've just put cobbles there and...railed it off? Makes no sense
A friend is taking me to Lotus Vegan across from the Laurieston tonight. Anyone have any recommendations for dish selection?
Probably wouldn't order steak
Any recommendations for a cafe / pub / hotel or whatever that's got a good view or at least big windows?
Need to do some work but don't want to sit inside in a darkish room all day.
Ahh that's not a bad shout! Always walk past there and think it looks good
Good shout, I'm always in that area so was thinking good excuse to head somewhere new
Someone mentioned on here the other day that brewdog do hotdesks for £7 a day with free coffee and a free pint at the end. Can't go wrong with the view from the Kelvingrove one.
Not a bad shout, but a shame that brewdog are bastards
Sky bar at the raddison red?
Might do this then bail into finneston if it's full or shit
Taphouse and strip joint are pretty light and airy and do good pizzas but not much of a view.
Skybar and RR completely closed as a cafe and the sky bit only open Fri and sat.
Also forgot how unfriendly this area is to pedestrians. Cars everywhere and can't walk on half the pavements due to cars avoiding parking.
Oops, sorry about that.
Ha no worries. If it worked out would have been amazing but looks like they just don't have any staff. Also sun has gone in now so my ideas of basking in the sun have rapidly gone
